"Now what is it you do?"
If I only had a nickel for every time I heard that question over the years, I wouldn't need a resume by now. Since life doesn't quite work that way, you can find out a little about what I have done and can do below.

Qualifications SummaryI am a results-driven instructional writer and designer with 4 years of experience as a higher education instructor and 10 years of experience as a graphic designer and content writer for print and online media. I bring a wealth of expertise for creating a complete learning experience based on instructional design principles such as the ADDIE model. I also have exceptional skills in managing multiple projects and effectively collaborating with creative teams and subject matter experts.
Work ExperienceI founded the publishing imprint, 123 Journal It, in January 2017 and worked full-time as a book designer for instructional workbooks and hobby journals until June 2023. My paperback books are still available through major online retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, and Barnes and Noble. I retired from print publication design to pursue new career endeavors and seek further creative software training. In the fall of 2023, I began teaching as an adjunct Graphic and Web Instructor locally for Lakeshore Technical College in Cleveland, Wisconsin. I am passionate about both creativity and learning and aspire to increase my instructional and technical expertise.
Previously in my career, I signed on as an author with Capstone Publishing to write a felt crafts instructional book which was published in January of 2018. I also headed up arts, crafts and home decor instructional content as the company-wide Craft Editor for Reader's Digest Association's Milwaukee branch (currently known as Trusted Media Brands). During that time, my design instructional expertise was poured onto the pages of Taste of Home Books, Birds & Blooms Magazine and Country Woman Magazine. I designed, wrote, and edited new content from scratch and increased quality and sales across all company brands. I have also been a freelance graphic and web designer for small businesses and individuals as well as a higher-ed instructor for computer graphic design courses focusing on the Adobe Creative Suite and the Principles of Design at Maple Woods Metropolitan Community College in the Kansas City, Missouri, area. |
