Instruction + e-Learning

I hold an M.Ed. in Instructional Technology and have four years of experience as an instructor for online and in-person design courses in higher education. Highlights of my expertise include developing course curricula, assessing student work, and training adult learners on educational and creative software. My e-learning development skills include instructional design methodologies such as the ADDIE Model and technical expertise in the Adobe Creative Suite and Articulate Rise. I am currently training to master Articulate Storyline as well as Adobe Express and Premiere Pro for video editing. I am also exploring ChatGPT and Adobe's new AI features for enhanced productivity in my work process.

Practicing Mindfulness in the Workplace

experience this course in rise
I developed this responsive, streamlined course in Rise 360 about mindfulness practices to incorporate into a workday. I wrote instructional modules highlighting techniques for reducing stress and increasing focus at work. Employing the principles of Bloom's Taxonomy, I organized and assessed the modules. I also used ChatGPT for research and initial outlining. Then, for development, I utilized my expertise in Adobe Illustrator for creating assets and the infographic with a cohesive theme. Additionally, I based the style guide on accessible fonts and a color palette for readability.
LEARNING OBJECTIVE: Learners will be able to integrate mindfulness practices into their workday routines, demonstrate techniques for stress reduction and improved focus, and develop personalized mindfulness plans to  enhance their overall work environment.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Employees working in a corporate in-office or hybrid remote setting who may benefit from reduced stress, enhanced focus, and better productivity both in and out of their work environment.

How to Make a Sourdough Starter

experience this course in rise
For this microlearning course for making a sourdough bread starter, I started with research using ChatGPT for the outline and initial step-by-step instructions. Then I researched for accuracy and edited in-depth to fit my needs. In the development process, I utilized online tools to determine accessible fonts and color palette for all deliverables. I also designed a short end-of-course review video and printable PDF bread recipe for supplementary course content. I personally enjoy baking and have made several sourdough starters of my own. I understand the process can be intimidating. Simple language given at a bite-size pace is key in learning this skill.
LEARNING OBJECTIVE: The participant will successfully create an active sourdough starter for use in bread recipes and demonstrate understanding for how to maintain it.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Individuals who are curious about sourdough bread making and want an easy guide for creating and maintaining a sourdough starter.

Adobe Illustrator Training Video for Instructional Design

Training Video for Adobe Illustrator

I created this video to demonstrate a time-saving technique for instructional designers to utilize Adobe Illustrator's recolor tool to achieve a cohesive color palette for project assets. I used Mac screen recorder and separately recorded audio on my iPhone. Then I utilized Adobe Premiere Pro to edit and combine the audio and video. As a final step, I used Adobe Express for adding the presentation elements and transitions. On a personal note, I have worked on many tight deadline projects and know how important it is to leverage my technical design and development expertise to save time on every little task.

Lesson Plan Overview

Adobe InDesign Course Lesson Plan

Lesson Plan and Training Video for Adobe InDesign

I created this technical training lesson plan for Adobe InDesign as an introduction for the tools and panels necessary to design a simple flyer in under 30 minutes. The design focus is a half letter-sized marketing flyer for a fictional Mother's Day Brunch. ChatGPT was utilized for writing the promotional text for the flyer. The new generative AI text-to-image tool was utilized in InDesign to create a complementary photo for the flyer. I created the content and wrote the step-by-step instructions. The principles of design and rule of thirds was employed for creating the layout. For the training video, I used Mac screen recorder and separately recorded audio on my iPhone. Then I used Adobe Express, Premiere Pro, and Podcast to edit the video, add captions, and enhance my voice quality with AI.
LEARNING OBJECTIVE: Learners will be able to demonstrate use of the rectangle, frame, type, direct selection, and color theme tools (utilizing keyboard shortcuts also), apply design techniques using the properties, CC libraries, swatches, color, stroke, and text to image panels, and identify the appropriate layout, elements, and principles of design throughout the process with concept to completion in 30 minutes or less.
